Hey folks!
We’ve recently sent out some messages to game profiles that have been accessed by users committing fraudulent activity, such as refund fraud or using stolen credit cards for purchases.
These messages are warnings, but permanent action such as banning will be taken against accounts that continue to engage in fraudulent activity after this warning.
We believe that many of these cases could have started as uninformed account sharing, so we want to remind folks that account sharing is against the game’s Terms of Use.
There’s a good reason that the Community team stresses that rule. The most devastating support tickets we handle have to do with players letting what seem to be helpful individuals onto their accounts temporarily, only to find they have taken malicious actions against them, or never left the account. Sometimes they will pose as the account owner and attempt to get the original owner removed from the account.
If you share your account or take over an account from someone else, there is no guarantee that we will be able to support you in the future.
Once you have given another user access to your Facebook, Game Center, or Apple ID, you cannot control how they will behave on your account or how long they will stay logged in.
If your account info has ever been shared, we recommend you:
- Change any passwords of associated cloud saving profiles [Facebook or Apple.] You will need to follow up with the respective platforms if you feel their security has been compromised beyond that - WB Games Support does not have access to login information on 3rd party platforms to support there.
- Contact support if you feel a user continues to access your account even after you have changed your passwords. As stated before, we cannot guarantee service for account disputes as this is exploitable by both the owner and any malicious user in the account, but we will do our best to reasonably prove ownership and support you.
The biggest takeaways here should be that we are sending around warning to folks associated with the most egregious offenders. If you have never committed fraud yourself but receive one of these messages, then please think back to if you have ever allowed another user into your account and take action accordingly.
Account security is very serious. We do not want to strike any legitimate players, but cannot foster fraud in our community either.
Thank you for listening!
