    Hey Kawaru,

We can't say much yet, but we'll be glad to discuss more about dragons once the feature is available. Feel free to bump this thread at a later date!

It's actually even less dramatic than I thought it would be. Hasn't stopped me from upgrading my dragon, of course. But to fill in some details. The defensive ability, Repel Strike, isn't available until level 27, so a limited number players will have it (748k Dragon Lore). Attack Players is at level 31, so it will be available to a small percentage of players (1.8M Dragon Lore). So the primary mechanism where dragons will be felt is in the bonuses they grant. Which means you're looking at mostly the Hatchling talents and some of the Dragon-prefixed Whelp ones to defend your keep. I went through the Hatchling talents and it looks like you could, maxing those out, end up with 35% combat stats between general Troop Attack/Defense/Health and type-specific. That's not peanuts, of course, but it requires somewhere on the order of 300 talent points. At level 11 I have 120 or so ... so maybe by level 22-25? It's nice to see that your dragon level isn't hampered by your Dragon Pit level, at least not after level 16 or so unlocks the major Nurturing items. The big limiter is going to be time; time to feed as well as time to collect the necessary lore. While it hasn't happened yet I have to assume that Dragon Lore is going to be a drop from creatures at some point, given the numbers necessary. So at the moment it's basically yet another static buff in the same way as research, gear, titles and enhancement.

One other wrinkle is that when you put an Adolescent dragon into even creature combat they don't fare particularly well. This is an experiment someone tried with a level 30 creature:

And for giggles on a level 11 creature.

Maybe it's poor use of talents and with better selection they would be more robust. And maybe I'm expecting too much, especially this early on. Time will tell, I suppose.

I do agree with you it’s a shame that the feature most people want (attack and defence) is not available without significant expense. The feature should be available at a lower level and get more effective with increased dragon level. Personally I got my dragon to level 13 and it’s gonna be there awhile because frankly i don’t want to make the investment necessary to get to level 27 or 31 and we can’t spend gold to level it so I believe your original post subject of dragons not saving us will end up been true. On the plus side for WB the 173 alliance gifts I’ve received so far will be lining WB pockets significantly.

In hindsight I suppose I should have expected this. The effect of dragons is very much evolutionary, not revolutionary. It's another set of "more of the same" buffs for 99% of the playing population. But that lays bare the idea that the game designers think that the formula is basically "working as intended." Players need a little more "bigger, faster, stronger" and additional areas of customization, but at a macro level we're on track. And maybe there's more coming, changes to Seats of Power, titles, etc. But I feel as though this was a missed opportunity to change the game in a significant way. I suppose that I and the designers differ in our opinions on that being needed.

Hey guys! Let's hope dragons for months and when we finally make them available make them almost impossible to grow by only making poor livestock readily available with the occasional, very rare chance of getting common by people using ALL of their stamina hitting creatures, lets not bother allowing them to upgrade the feed as we do with the materials in the smithy with the exact same format! let's also only allow them to be fed once a day and make affordable packs completely pointless to force the hands of players to either spend $100s at a time or have a virtually useless dragon. F YOU WB! I expected this to be expensive, but the level to which this was taken is an absolute slap in the face to the majority of your players, you have now made it so even the biggest spenders can compete even more than you had before. THIS IS HOW SERVERS DIED SO FAST IN THE FIRST PLACE AND IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE NOW! Congratulations!

Well, , I don't think you can put people rushing through content on them. I would say that WBI/Turbine is discouraging people from getting full-up dragons on day one. Between capping it at level 33 and not allowing hold to purchase feeds they limit the number of people who are going to max.it out. Now, of course, this had the desultory effect of pushing revenue, so there's that as well.

For example there are a quite a few folks that have around 200k points in the event, so probably level 12-14 or so dragons. And then there are some with over 3M. They bought themselves several months of time at the cost of -- I don't know -- $1,000+ USD. Heck, if they didn't have that cap I bet someone would have gotten as close to level 100 as they could before the packs ran out.

one bloke in mine to get to level 29 has speant around £2200. I've speant using vouchers (thats the only way i spend on this game now) £104.98 on the egg pack and a whelp special, that got me to level 13 with 41,789 points.

I'm not putting it all on WB but it just goes to show the crazy costs of this game...it's insane.... and we're insane as well lol

Of course this goes to illustrate the bind that the designers are in. They have to offer folks a way to buy to get ahead because, well, that's the nature of the game. That means that if things were really helpful there would be a million and one posts about how "WB is making us have to spend!"
