I purchased 2 packs in-game today & got additional tax charges on the packs for the first time ever since I started playing the game when it was first released a couple years ago.
I asked the players in my alliance if they saw any changes to their pack purchase receipts recently and they all said they're not seeing any changes. However, some people said they've always been charged an additional tax while others are saying that (like me) they've never had to pay additional tax on packs.
Some people in my alliance suggested it might be a "State Tax" variation, but I don't think that's it because I haven't moved recently & I'm playing from the same location I've always played from (Pennsylvania, USA). I also have not changed my method of payment at all either.
I'm also just generally confused now as to whether or not I should be paying tax fees if other players are not, since that means those who do not have the additional tax charge are getting a bit of a monetary advantage over those who do have to pay additional on top of the price of the pack itself.
I understand that sometimes tax policies do change, but it would have been nice to get a notice of upcoming changes before getting the unexpected additional charges on my receipts - and a notice would have also clarified whether or not the new tax up-charge was a mistake or an intentional change.
I would like to receive verification from GOTC Support that this tax charge change was intentional and correct, especially since it does not seem to be a universal change in the game.
