So, we're coming to the end of another server, so soon we'll be done with all of the fights on our current one. Before that happened there was a last-ditch effort to take Sunspear. As of this writing it came close, but not quite there. But 48 people were able to get the wall down and almost knock all the troops out. Not sure how many defenders, bit quite a few. That's good. The fact that people were sweating it, staying up in order to make it happen is a good thing. Paramounts come with such good buffs there should be a cost to hold them, a burden on that allegiance.
Unfortunately, with the locking schedule and current mechanics that's not how it works most of the time. To give you an example at the moment Storm's End, Highgarden and Dragonstone are being held by either T3s or T4s. So are The Dreadfort and Oldtown. This happens because you can rotate these seats to people who couldn't take them and they are "safe" for a time so you can pull people out to take other Seats.
I have a few thoughts on how to correct this issue.
1) Extend the allegiance transfer lockout period; the current one allows people to jump between banners to attack or defend and makes the number of banner restrictions somewhat meaningless
2) Have some meaningful consequence for not having the correct number of banners; maybe they get dropped after an hour, maybe it becomes unlocked and they can't reinforce, but something that might actually prevent this
3) Only count banners that are of at least keep 8 or 10; because if the second one happens you'll end up with allegiances made up of large numbers of alts and a few players to avoid the issue
As I said, holding a Paramount should be a burden. If you gather all your forces and leave it should be a risk of getting taken over by reavers.
