Steel rewards and rewards in general

In order to accumulate gear you have to pay. That's the name of the game. Either pay with gold from packs to buy templates, gold to buy steel, gold to buy stamina or directly steel and materials from packs. Or building your smithy, using -- you guessed it -- gold to buy keystones or directly from packs. The rewards are just a token, they are not -- and never have been -- intended to enable you to advance, especially at the lower levels. At the higher ones you can get 30k blue materials, but you're going to spend more than that getting to the top.

Yeah the game is pay to win to the max, no dispute there.  And that is a problem that will kill it eventually.  Never the less, the rewards should be commiserate with the effort of the event.  Spending the stamina necessary to complete the creature events and the associated amount of resources required to heal (much less to get the troops in the first place) certainly warrants something at least reasonable for a steel reward during a crafting event.  I suppose you think 580 steel for killing the hundreds of level 30 creatures required to finish the event is a suitable reward?  No that is ridiculous.  Asinine to suggest otherwise.

And yet people do it. I agree, they are paltry, some especially so. But they show you the rewards and you are free to make your own decision there. Do I wish they were more? Yes. But as long as they are successful at driving the behavior they want, which is to say spending, they will continue to be what they are. If you don't believe them to be worth it don't complete them. If sufficient people did so they might do something about it.
