Greetings. I have been playing GoT:C since launch. I started playing the game when everyone in the kingdom (K17) had a 3-day peace bubble.
During that time, I never spent any moneynt on the game. I hope to outline, for the devs and for any other interested parties who may be reading this, exactly why I chose to uninstall the game today after six months of daily play.
The current system allows and encourages players to attack players who are significantly lower in level. This model of play is absolutely not sustainable. Perhaps it is not the intent of the developers of this game to create a game with sustainable longeivity, but rather, to grab up as much cold, hard cash as they can while the GoT name is popular and then shut down the servers. I choose to believe that the developers of this game do care about sustainability.
Much of my gaming background comes from MMORPGs. Every single MMORPG I have ever played has some type of player versus player mode. And every single MMORPG I have ever played has some method of ensuring that players are evenly matched. A level 70 player is not pitted against a level 30 player. It isn't fair. It isn't sporting. It isn't fun.
Yet, in GoT:C, players with level 20+ keeps and tens of millions of power are able to easily pop over and destroy someone in a level 12 keep without blinking. The attacking player loses almost nothing from this. A teleport scroll. A miniscule number of their troops (after all, the defending keep had only T4 troops, while the attacking keep had T8s). The attacking player gains resources.
The defending player has no recourse. The defending player may have lost half of their power. The defending player must now use a ridiculous amount of resources to recover from the attack. These resources may take weeks of time in real life to farm, due to the length of time it takes to obtain resources in game. I'm sure that the intent is for the defending player to buy some resource packs, but believe it or not, that's not a fun way to play for everyone.
I hear a lot of people saying "Don't cry about getting attacked, this is a war game, what do you expect?" That's fair. But this game is designed in such a way that it took me a solid month to recover the last time I was zeroed by a player with significantly more power than me. After it happened again today, I had to ask myself, is what I'm getting out of this game worth the frustration?
More and more players with low and mid level keeps are going to start finding that the answer to that question is NO, because you have created an environment that rewards people for being bullies.
It is extremely difficult for a non-paying player to defend themselves. Access to peace shields is limited enough that the best course of action is generally to save them for PVP events. (By the way, no sarcasm, great job with the one event where you awarded peace shields in the event 1 day prior to the PVP event, that was excellent) Access to advanced teleport scrolls is extremely limited, with the game generally awarding about one per month.
The game does not provide adequate methods of managing resources. As an example, a player with a level 14 keep can reach a point where they have completed all upgrades which require less than 6 million wood. If that player's wood goes above protected levels, there really isn't anything the player can do. To be honest, I would have preferred to have the option to throw my excess wood away rather than knowing it was sitting there and being unable to do anything with it, knowing someone was going to attack me over it. Furthermore, at a level 14 keep, it is not possible to spend iron, yet, if you've played the game for a long time and participated in multiple events, you've obtained enough iron that someone might want to attack your keep over it.
SUGGESTION: Implement a system in which lower level players can keep troops "protected" against higher level keeps. If the attacker's troops are, say, more than 2 tiers higher than your own, your troops will "surrender" all resources. The attacking player can then have the option to teleport your keep to a random location or take all your resources and leave, but cannot destroy your troops.
This will encourage players to attack keeps only close to their own level for PVP events and for wartime activities. This will still allow higher level players to attack lower level keeps for resources, but without completely decimating the lower tier keep. This will permit players to continue playing and not get frustrated, throw up their hands, and leave because they don't want to spend another month recovering from being zeroed again.
TL;DR The game is set up so that big spending players can bully low/nonspending players. Please consider implementing a system which allows lower tier players greater protection against high tier players.
