I was thinking this went the other way that attackers can see what troops you have via the scout report and then send their strongest troops to attack you.  I hope you're correct about the advantage to the defense

The % of the benefit should be seen in the status!!

I believe that troops attack each other in groups. That is mounted attack, and are attacked by, infantry, mounted and ranged on each round. So each type would get a bonus when attacking the more vulnerable unit, and vice-versa.

Also a component of range that factors into the order of when troops engage.

    Hi everyone,

I will ask the team if they can provide some more information on the new combat rules which have been introduced so players have a better understanding of the changes which have been made.

Thanks for posting! I will let you know when I have more information.

Interesting. I know it's a factor of the overall outcome and I've read details of other games with a similar concept. Can you provide any more details about the specific effects of Range in this game?

    Hey everyone,

Mostly, the bonuses won't be as obvious right away. All bonuses for Cavalry vs Infantry vs Ranged have been amplified slightly. The real difference will be noticeable with an upcoming feature in the works - A new form of combat buffs that are currently being worked on. Once this feature is available, these bonuses will become much more apparent.

    Hope this clears things up!

    ,

Can we have figures? The boost was 10%, it is now 15% - 20%? All these factor into our gear making and attack decisions. Thanks.

The advantage/disadvantage appears to be 30%/10% or 20%/0%, depending on the tier of the troops. In some limited testing I saw around a 3% casualty difference against creatures with a normal mix of troop types compared with before the change. So while this is not entirely complete, it appeared to be relatively minor at the present time.
