You can't believe how exciting these healing bills are?

Why would you group players with t9s with players with t10s? Players with t10s will beat a t9 March so all they need to do is kick t9s out of node to finishing collecting and gaining rewards. You grouped t8s vs. t8s. Why didn't you do the same with t9s??

Honestly, this event is horrible! T-10 keep attacking my nodes and taking them with 1 hit. I am using 30/30/30 attack defense and health plus 8k march size which brings my marches over 90k and t10s are still kicking my butt! There is no way for my t9s to win! I have lost every node I have tried to harvest!!! I forgot to mention I have only been trying on this event for 30 mins and have already used 25m in food to heal my troops. This event is definitely stacked against any t9s.

T9s getting grouped with t10s is not “evenly matched competition” at all. Fully boosted with a level 32 dragon is no match for a T10 march. Also, getting kicked from a node with 10 seconds left by a T10 player before fully depleting is just downright frustrating. T8s and T10s have the advantage in this event. There’s no use in trying to go up against that.

So, while the concept of this is extremely interesting the implementation leaves a lot to be desired. The major issues are the relative low number of tiles, their tendency to be clustered around major Seats of Power, the significant rewards for depleting them and the power discrepancy possible on level 6 nodes, in particular. T9s cannot stand up to T10s and cannot retake the node. A person can scan areas like Winterfell or Sunspear and wait until a node is low, say 60 or 80 and then come in and take it and gain the lion's share of the rewards.

Just following up on this while the actual results of attempting to gather from a strategic terrain are that substantial the frustration level is pretty high. It is not uncommon to spend 15+ finding 4 and sending your troops and then having people come by and kick you out of them at the last minute. Since the battle reports show the coordinates of the person who attacked you rather than the coordinates of the terrain it's extremely challenging to locate them again and, realistically, in most cases it's not worth attempting to re-take it because of the limited time left, the difference in attack and defense and the power differential, especially for level 6. So, in my case, I'll spend 15-20 minutes, wait close to two hours and end up with fewer than 400 dragon lore and maybe 4 or 5 thousand wounded troops. Judging from the last couple of days I'll actually complete maybe 10% of my attempts. So on most rounds I'll get 1,500 dragon lore and be on the hook to spend around 8M food to heal. Oh, and not to mention the feeling that I've just wasted a bunch of time in a situation where I'm basically playing for another player.

And now that the event is over along with the steel and other rewards there is basically no reason to farm these. Given the healing costs I would basically putting troops out there to be wounded for very little gain. This represents a serious problem. When the rewards are going everyone wants them which means you get the situation above. It's worth taking the risk but those rewards bring with them a lot more people which means the chances of me, at keep level 27, of actually capturing them are pretty low. When there aren't rewards it likely means that there are fewer people and a greater chance of finishing but the 1.5-2M food costs of losing basically wipe out the benefits of quite a few gathers. Considering that there are other ways of getting dragon lore without taking this risk along with the low amounts gathered means that by the time I run into a wall of needing the dragon lore the amount needed basically makes it prohibitive to actually try to gather them.

    So, the TL;DR version is:

    • When there are no bonus rewards it's not worth putting troops out there to be wounded because the healing costs outweigh the benefits of the dragon lore
    • When there are bonus rewards it's not worth putting troops out there because I'm basically gathering so T10s can come around behind me and take the node at the end
    • When I get to the point where I really need dragon lore getting 2k at a time is basically a drop in the bucket and not worth the time, effort and risk
    • Even if the actual costs of getting kicked out of a tile wasn't high the frustration of spending time to limited effect is

What's particularly galling about this is that in the abstract it is what the game needs. Lower risk PvP that people of different levels can participate in and that doesn't require large groups and or specific times. And maybe it will die down and the current feeding frenzy mentality is just due to the newness of it. But the combination of the power scaling -- especially evident for level 6 tiles -- the high costs of healing and culture of "kill everything that moves" makes this yet another piece of content that will be ignored.

2000 lore per terrain in no way shape form or fashion is worth the healing costs. Most in our kingdom quit because the cost benefit ratio was non existent. Great idea but horribly implemented. And T9s got hosed in the event being grouped with T10s. My hate mail was real and I can't blame them for being mad but we had maybe 10 level 6 nodes on the map people could find so you had to kick T9 troops.
